Deconstruction of two film websites (PAULINE KATE BALUYUT)

All films have their very own way(s) to advertise and promote their movie.  In this post I will be highlighting the film websites that have allowed fans to be excited and enthusiastic for a prolonged period of time on both independent and mainstream movies.

1) MAINSTREAM film website

http://www.catchingfiremovie.com/

The above picture shows the 'The hunger games: Catching fire' website's first page. Already from this good advertisement techniques are being used which i have annotated below;

Conventions used:

  1. Trailer/teaser
  2. Images
  3. background information about the crew
  4. colour palette
  5. film title masthead
  6. social media networking sites
  7. slogan

Main colour scheme used:
Red
Orange
Black

These colours are associated with fire, it goes well with the overall theme of the movie and its slogan ('Every revolution begins with a spark').

Below is the actual home page of the website.

2) INDEPENDENT film website

The film bullet boy, is an independent social-realism film. It doesn't have its own film website but as the BBC is it's institution, its not surprising to find that it's film website is shared with the BBC's.
